Welcome to La Maison du Chevalier
Together with two befriended chambres d'hotes in the area we have a 10-day hiking holiday composed for you!
Our Rooms
Our charming rooms have comfortable beds (King size). All rooms have their own bathroom with shower and toilet.
Currently we offer two double bedrooms on the second floor with a balcony and a beautiful view. A third bedroom is a family room with entrance on the ground floor with its own terrace.
Every morning we serve a good breakfast (included in the price of the night).
About us
From October 2022, we are the new owners of this Chambres d'hôtes & table d'hôtes located in the beautiful natural park ‘Livradois-Forez’ in the region ‘Auvergne’.
We have guests from various regions in France, but also from the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, England, Scotland and even America! Some guests are passing through, but we also have guests who come here just for the beautiful surroundings.
By motorbike or convertible, there are many lovely roads and routes with beautiful views and picturesque villages and sights.
Hikers, too, know how to find us regularly. Here in the area, there are many hiking trails from short to long and from easy to difficult. Something for everyone and always surprising!
TIP: Together with two other Chambres d'hôtes in the area we have a 10-day hiking arrangement! Have a further look on our site for the various possibilities!
And then we also have our business guests. We are often approached by various large companies in the area to offer various overnight stays for mechanics who come to do maintenance or for people who come to do audits.
Especially for the large companies with high demand for overnight stays, we have a special rate.(EUROAPI - SANOFI - OMERIN - CELTA & SMURFIT KAPPA DORE EMBALLAGE) Feel free to send us an e-mail asking about the conditions.
Looking back, we again had a very nice 2nd season. We have received wonderful reviews and have even had a number of returning guests! We are very happy with all the nice guests we have been able to surprise with our lovely beds, good food and beautiful surroundings! We hope to welcome many more new and returning guests.
In any case, we will do our best to give you a wonderful stay that you can look back on with pleasure.

Amazing stay at La Maison du Chevalier
Staying in La Maison du Chevalier is a must if you are nearby. The house is located in a fantastic place and every little detail has been taken care of. Ellen and Robert are so warm people, making your stay even better. They are happy to help with any of your needs and they are amazing cookers. So I would recommend if you stay at their place request dinner, good food, and better company. I was there for a business trip to EUROAPI -VERTOLAYE (the best place to stay if you go there) and I would like to stay again for holidays.

A 10 with a pin for this B&B
How much we enjoyed, together with my partner we spent 6 days there and it was not 1 too many! After a long search we came to this B&B and it exceeded all our expectations.
The room is lovely and the view fantastic! And then you wake up in the silence and get a delicious breakfast!
During the day you can enjoy exploring the area and Ellen and Robert-Jan can show you around, they come with very nice tips and help you with anything where necessary (since we speak 2 words of French and yet occasionally want to reserve something).
In the evening you can optionally stay for dinner (this is also useful if you do not speak French 😛) Robert Jan is originally a chef-cook and we could notice that because every time there was a delicious 3-course menu served ... where many restaurants can be jealous.
Nothing is too much to ask, service is in their DNA!
Thanks again for the great time we had with you, but especially with you! You are very nice and kind people who gave us a fantastic first vacation week.
And we will definitely come back, if only to give 'Beer' a big hug again (Beer is the sweetest and nicest house dog).

Everything was perfect: the warm welcome from Ellen and Robert, the rooms with views and very comfortable beds, the relaxing garden, the varied breakfast...and the meals worthy of a great chef...Thanks again to Ellen and Robert for this charming stay...and beer od course...

The best place to stay in Marat!
We stayed one night as we were passing through the area and we can only say BRAVO and keep it up. We were welcomed like at home, we ate the evening with the hosts Robert and Ellen who have the 2 the easy contact.We spent an evening as between friends. A very good meal, just like in a restaurant, at a very attractive price!
We stayed in room 1, which has a lovely balcony overlooking the garden and surrounding countryside. The bedding is perfect: the mattress is very comfortable and it's very quiet all around.
Last but not least, the breakfast is a real treat and well worth the trip!
In a word: THANK YOU and we'll be back!
